Successful race in the rain at Belgium’s Spa circuit

It was pouring with rain and there was strong wind at the demanding Spa Francorchamps circuit, where Lewis Hamilton won the Formula 1 two weeks before. Not really good racing conditions - very demanding for drivers, the team, and the mechanics. But Patrick Brenndörfer had firm control of the Roding R1 at the DMV Gran Turismo Touring Car Cups despite the seven-kilometer circuit being soaked from the rain. While the bad weather posed major problems for the competition, the Bremotion-Evonik team and the 380 HP race car from Evonik used the conditions to their advantage, starting off well to edge their way nearer and nearer to the front. In the last lap the Roding was looking hopeful for bronze in Class 10 and was able to secure the first podium position of the 2015 racing season.

In this race the Evonik Race Car once again served as a testing platform for various products from Evonik, with glazing from PLEXIGLAS® and structural foam from ROHACELL® in the car along with Evonik oil additives in the engine and gearbox. These products made a significant improvement to the car’s performance. The Automotive Industry Team and Evonik’s guests - among them automobile manufacturers, suppliers, and journalists - were extremely pleased with the results and can look back on a great racing season in 2015.
